On 21 May 2026, first-year students, accompanied by Ms. Halal Abdulrahman, visited The Code Lab in Erbil as part of an educational field trip aimed at bridging classroom learning with real-world technological applications. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Rebin M. Ahmed, Head of The Code Lab, who provided an overview of the center’s mission, programs, and role in promoting digital skills, innovation, and technology education among young learners. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to present their PowerPoint projects and engage in discussions about technology, programming, and future career opportunities in the digital sector. They also participated in a hands-on workshop where they were introduced to the fundamentals of coding and learned how programming languages can be used to design, build, and control robots. Through practical demonstrations and interactive activities, students gained valuable insight into robotics, problem-solving techniques, and the creative process behind developing technological solutions. The visit enabled students to experience a professional learning environment, strengthen their teamwork and communication skills, and better understand the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s world. Furthermore, this activity contributed to the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing experiential and technology-enhanced learning opportunities, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by developing future-ready skills, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by encouraging innovation and technological advancement, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Ms. Halal Abdulrahman, Mr. Rebin M. Ahmed, and the entire team at The Code Lab for their warm hospitality, professional guidance, and commitment to inspiring the next generation of innovators and technology leaders.
