Dr. Hemin Ibrahim, Head of Cybersecurity department at Tishk International University, played as a trainer during the first training course on disinformation generated by artificial intelligence, held in Erbil. Over two days, Dr. Hemin Ibrahim introduced participants to fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence (AI), its role in media, and how AI can be utilized to detect fake news. He also provided hands-on guidance on developing AI models specifically tailored to identify Kurdish fake news.

The training was organized by the Peace and Freedom Organization as part of the U.S. Consulate General-Erbil-supported project, “Counteracting Disinformation Generated by Artificial Intelligence.” The three-day course, which ran from November 30 to December 2, 2024, aimed to enhance the skills of 25 journalists and university students (both male and female) from various cities in the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk governorate.
