From June 4 to June 6, 2026, a team of students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Tishk International University carried out a community outreach project to provide meals to children at a local orphanage. The project was led by Ronza Hersh, along with Meer Adil and Ardalan Farhad. The initiative reflects the university’s emphasis on combining academic life with civic responsibility, encouraging students to apply teamwork and planning skills toward meaningful social action.

Before the visit, the students contacted the orphanage administration to request official permission and to learn about the facility’s guidelines for outside visitors. During this communication, they also obtained the exact number of children living at the center. This information allowed the team to calculate the precise amount of food needed, ensuring that every child would be provided for while avoiding unnecessary waste.

Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by the orphanage staff. They delivered the prepared meals to the orphanage and distributed them in an organized manner, making sure that all children at the center received an equal share. Each step of the process had been planned, allowing the visit to proceed smoothly and respectfully.

Following the distribution, the students reflected on the experience as a meaningful example of how organized, student-led efforts can provide direct support to vulnerable groups in the community. The AI department emphasizes encouraging similar initiatives among other students and highlights the value of practical social responsibility within the university environment.

This project connects to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by addressing the direct nutritional needs of the children at the center, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by contributing to the children’s daily wellbeing through proper meals, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring that all children at the facility were equally included and supported, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by building cooperation between the university and a local care institution.

Through projects like this, TIU continues to support students in developing both their academic skills and their sense of responsibility toward the wider community.
