The Physiotherapy Department at Applied Science Faculty of Tishk International University (TIU), in collaboration with the Physiotherapy Department of Hawler Medical University (HMU), successfully organized an international workshop to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day 2025. The event, held on September 8, 2025, at Tishk International University, focused on the theme “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in Healthy Ageing.”

The workshop brought together academic experts, faculty members, and students to highlight the essential contribution of physiotherapists in promoting health, enhancing mobility, and improving quality of life among ageing populations.

the speakers were Dr. Ali Astokorki, Head of the Physiotherapy Department at Hawler Medical University, delivered an insightful presentation on “The Role of Physical Activity in Healthy Ageing.” Dr. Ali emphasized the significance of regular physical activity in preventing age-related functional decline and maintaining overall well-being. and, Dr. Maria Justine from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, who discussed “Muscle Matters in Healthy Ageing: Restoring Strength, Preserving Independence.” Dr. Maria highlighted evidence-based physiotherapy approaches to preserve muscle strength, functional independence, and active lifestyles among older adults.

This workshop marked a valuable opportunity for professional exchange and academic collaboration between TIU and HMU, reinforcing the shared commitment to advancing physiotherapy education and practice in the region.
