On May 13, 2026, the Cybersecurity Department at Tishk International University organized an immersive scientific field trip to the Kurdistan Regional Government Department of Information Technology. As part of TIU’s commitment to practical and industry-oriented education, a delegation of 25 cybersecurity students visited the department under the supervision of faculty members Miss Yasameen Sami and Mr. Halal Abdulrahman. The visit provided students with an excellent opportunity to connect theoretical classroom knowledge with real-world government technology operations and digital infrastructure.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Miss Rivan Bazzaz, Head of Public Relations at KRG DIT, along with Mr. Dana Balisani, PR Coordinator. The hosts organized a comprehensive guided tour designed to introduce students to the department’s advanced technological environment and ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

During the visit, students explored several key technical divisions within the department, including:

  • DevSecOps & Infrastructure: Students observe how software platforms and digital services are developed, deployed, and secured through modern cloud and infrastructure operations.
  • Business Intelligence & Requirements Analysis: The delegation learned how data is collected, analyzed, and utilized to support strategic decision-making and service improvement.
  • Quality Assurance (QA): Students gained insights into the testing and validation procedures required to ensure the reliability, functionality, and security of government systems before deployment.
  • Networking & Technical Support: The technical teams demonstrated the infrastructure and support systems that maintain secure communication and connectivity across government institutions.

At each department, DIT specialists provided informative presentations about their daily operations, responsibilities, and technical workflows while engaging directly with students and answering their cybersecurity and IT-related questions.

As part of the visit, the delegation also received the official DIT Digital Services Guidelines as an educational resource. In addition, DIT professionals shared valuable career advice with the students, encouraging them to strengthen their practical skills, pursue continuous learning, and prepare strategically for the growing demands of the cybersecurity and information technology job market within the Kurdistan Region.

This visit aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education , by promoting experiential and practical learning; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure , by exposing students to advanced digital government systems; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals , by strengthening collaboration between academia and government institutions.

The visit reflected TIU’s ongoing dedication to bridging academic learning with professional experience and preparing students to become future cybersecurity and technology leaders in the region.
