The Faculty of Applied Sciences is proud to announce that Mr. Islam A. Qader, in collaboration with Dr. Tarik A. Rashid, has successfully presented their research paper, “Kurdish Handwritten Character Recognition System: Review of Methods and Progress”, at the 10th International Engineering Conference (IEC) 2024.

This prestigious event, held on October 23rd, 2024, at Dedeman Erbil, was technically sponsored by IEEE through the IEEE Iraq Section. The paper explores the field of Kurdish Handwritten Character Recognition (KHCR), addressing challenges such as script complexity, data limitations, and handwriting variability. The study emphasizes the need for robust models capable of accurately interpreting diverse handwriting styles and contributes significantly to the advancement of automated recognition systems for Kurdish text.

This achievement highlights the Faculty’s ongoing dedication to innovation, engineering education, and global cooperation.
