On November 7th, 2024, the Information Technology Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) hosted the International Workshop on Emerging Trends in Information Technology and AI.  the workshop provided an engaging platform to explore cutting-edge developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its ethical dimensions.

The event commenced at 10:00 AM, with a comprehensive introduction outlining the workshop’s objectives and activities. Distinguished speakers delivered thought-provoking presentations:

 • Prof. Amin Abbosh from the University of Queensland, Australia (via Zoom), presented “Toward Trustworthy AI.”

 • Ms. Ara Miran from The British International University, Erbil, discussed “AI in Action: Transforming Creativity, Security, and Efficiency.”

The workshop encouraged networking among faculty, students, and industry professionals, sparking valuable discussions on AI’s transformative applications in enhancing creativity, security, and operational efficiency.

Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the workshop emphasized:

 • Quality Education (SDG 4): Offering attendees advanced knowledge of AI trends and their role in educational innovation.

 • Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9): Showcasing AI’s potential to drive sustainable industrial transformation.

The success of this event was made possible through the dedicated leadership of Mr. Mohammad Salim, Dr. Taha Basheer, and Ms. Aya Sarkwat, with the support of Mr. Savriddin Khalilov (Head of Department), Dr. Tola Faraj (Vice Dean), and Dr. Faiq Hussine (Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences).
