In collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a significant workshop on September 16th, 2024 to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The event aimed not only to celebrate the life of the Prophet but also to emphasize his profound encouragement for education and knowledge dissemination.
The workshop featured Mr. Abdulghafur Sabr, an esteemed Imam and Preacher of the Big Mosque of Altun and member of the Social Cohesion and Peacebuilding board. He holds an MA degree in sociology and conflict solutions from Strasburg, France, and is a KAICIID Alumni, an international board of religious leaders. He delivered an engaging presentation on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Attendees were enlightened about the values and principles that the Prophet embodied, including his relentless pursuit of knowledge and advocacy for education among his followers.
In his presentation, he highlighted the Prophet’s life that exemplified his commitment to learning. He spoke about how the Prophet (PBUH) urged his community to seek knowledge, regardless of their circumstances. “The pursuit of knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim,” the imam emphasized, echoing a well-known Hadith that calls for the value of education in Islam. The workshop attracted a diverse audience, including students, faculty members, and community leaders, all eager to learn more about the lasting impact of the Prophet’s teachings on modern society. The event concluded with a Q&A session, where attendees asked questions about integrating the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) into contemporary educational frameworks. Faculty members expressed their hope that the workshop would inspire further initiatives that promote educational values in the university and beyond.
As Tishk International University continues to foster a culture of learning and community engagement, this workshop serves as a reminder of the timeless relevance of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings and their vital role in shaping a knowledgeable and compassionate society.
