Abstract
A total of 10 bottled sample were collected from different supermarkets in Erbil city. A study was conducted to determine the numbers and types of bacteria found in these water sources.
Results showed that six of these water samples were pure, and not contaminated with bacteria, so they are safe for drinking according to WHO guideline, while four water samples, number 1, 3, 5 and 8 contained 512, 346, 896 and >1000 CFU/ml respectively. The type of identified bacteria had Acinetobacter urisingii, Sphingomonas paucimobilis and Staphylococcus warneri, in sample number 1, 3, 5, and 8 respectively, there for these four water sources considered un save for drinking depending on WHO guideline.
