Successful Conclusion of the International Workshop on Emerging Trends in Information Technology and AI
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the International Workshop on Emerging Trends in Information Technology and AI, organized by the Information Technology Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU). The event took place on 7th November 2024 in Hall #302 of the Education Building and served as an important platform for discussing the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence, along with its ethical considerations.
The event commenced at 10:00 AM, featuring an introduction to the workshop’s objectives and an overview of the scheduled activities. Prof. Amin Abbosh joined us online via Zoom App, from the University of Queensland, Australia, delivered a lecture on “Toward Trustworthy AI”. Ms. Ara Miran from The British International University, Erbil, presented on the topic “AI in Action: Transforming Creativity, Security, and Efficiency”. The workshop also provided ample opportunity for networking among participants, including faculty, students, and industry professionals, facilitating valuable discussions on the applications of AI across various domains, particularly in enhancing creativity, security, and operational efficiency.
The workshop directly aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with specific emphasis on:
- Quality Education (SDG 4): Providing attendees with advanced insights into AI trends and their implications for educational advancements.
- Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9): Highlighting AI’s potential to revolutionize industries and contribute to sustainable innovation.
The event was attended by 29 staff members from the IT Department and Tishk International University, as well as 31 third-year IT students. 5 IT 3rd-grade students also volunteered their time and skills to assist in managing the event and handling registration, ensuring the smooth flow of activities.
The workshop was made possible through the leadership and coordination of Mr. Mohammad Salim, Dr. Taha Basheer, and Ms. Aya Sarkwat, with crucial support from Mr. Savriddin Khalilov, Head of the Department, Dr. Tola Faraj, Vice Dean, and Dr. Faiq Hussine, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who participated and contributed to the success of this important academic event. The insights shared will undoubtedly continue to inspire and shape future discussions on the role of AI in technological and societal transformation.
