IT Department in Spring Festival
The Dean of Students at Tishk International University (TIU) organized the 7th International Spring Festival, held under the theme, “The Spring of Coexistence.” The festival featured more than 25 tents that focused on science, providing attendees with the opportunity to learn about the most recent developments. The scientific tent competition was highly competitive, with Dentistry securing the first place, Nursing in second, and Pharmacy in third. There were also 35 tents that represented a variety of countries and their cultures. The UAE and Japan were the winners of the first place, followed by Palestine and China in second place and Greece and Egypt in third place. In addition, there were 25 tents that featured handcrafted accessories created by homemakers and disabled women.
The Information Technology Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) participated in the festival by exhibiting a tent that represented Mexico and showcased scientific activities that were focused on artificial intelligence (AI). The following projects and activities for this event were supervised by Dr. Hemin Ibrahim, who holds a PhD in AI:
- Face Similarity: A demonstration of AI technology that compares faces to identify similarities.
- Describing Faces and Ethnicity: An activity in which participants acquire knowledge regarding the capacity of AI to determine ethnicity and describe facial features.
- Makeup Checking: A demonstration of AI technology that enables individuals to try on virtual makeup and observe its appearance on them.
- AI-Assisted Clothing and Haircut Recommendation: An interactive display that recommends clothing and hairstyles based on the user’s preferences.
- Kurdish Game: A game that is based on Kurdish culture and tradition and is developed using AI technology.
- Typing Competition: An event that evaluates the speed and precision of typing, with artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring and providing feedback.
