On May 18, 2025, a group of 25 second-year students from the IT Department at TIU participated in a scientific field visit to the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), where a workshop was held to explore the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The event brought together academics, industry professionals, and students to engage in meaningful discussions about how AI is transforming various aspects of life in the region. Speakers highlighted both the opportunities and challenges that AI presents, particularly in areas such as employment, education, and societal development.
Students from TIU and other institutions actively contributed to the dialogue, sharing their perspectives on the future of AI and its implications for their communities. The workshop served as a platform for learning, critical thinking, and collaboration across academic and professional boundaries.
This visit was part of the university’s broader efforts to expose students to emerging technologies and real-world applications, encouraging them to think critically about the future and their role in shaping it.
