Diabetes Awareness (Community Project)
The Department of Medical Analysis, Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a community awareness campaign for diabetes, sponsored by Dalany Laboratory. The event, held on November 27th, 2023, a group of department students presented information about various forms of diabetes, their common symptoms, preventative measures, and potential therapies to the high school students at Kurdistani Gawra High School. During their presentation, the department students illustrated the effects of diabetes on the human body with the use of graphs and images. Additionally, they deliberated on strategies for managing the illness, including consistent physical activity, a nutritious diet, and routine blood sugar assessments.
The project’s objectives were to increase the awareness of diabetes among high school students and to furnish them with information that could be used to prevent the disease. Additionally, the students attempted numerous assessments at the school, including blood grouping, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar tests. This was an essential element of the project, as it enabled the students to identify individuals who may have the illness but were unaware of it. The examination was attended by both students and staff members, providing an opportunity for early diagnosis and treatment. In general, the project was successful, and the children were acknowledged for their efforts to educate the school community about the importance of adopting healthier lifestyles.
