On 8/1/2026 as part of its ongoing commitment to community outreach and public health education the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Tishk International University organized an interactive visit to Gohdar elementary School. The event provided the second grade students of Gohdar school with the opportunity to apply their academic training practically empowering local youth with the fundamentals about food, nutrition and healthy living. The initiative was warmly welcomed by the school’s administration. Principal Farhad Wahid praised the students for their professionalism and their ability to connect with the children. “Educating our students about nutrition at this age is vital for their future,” Principal Wahid remarked, noting the positive energy the university team brought to the school.
The visit focused on making link between dietary habits and academic success for young school students . Nutrition and dietetics students delivered a easy and informative presentation designed to simplify complex nutritional science for the elementary students. The seminar emphasized how a balanced intake of nutrients serves as the essential fuel for both physical development and the mental clarity needed to perform well academically.
Moving beyond theory, the TIU team engaged the pupils in practical workshops focused on the Benefits of Whole Foods to help Understanding why natural ingredients are superior to processed snacks for longterm energy, Mastering Portion Control by using visual guides to help students build a balanced plate independently and lastly developing Lifelong Habits by giving them practical tips for choosing water over sugary drinks and incorporating a variety of food groups into daily meals.
For the Nutrition and Dietetics department, these visits are a core component of the curriculum. Guided by Head of department Dr. Pary A. Arsalan, students gain invaluable experience in community health advocacy and public speaking. By translating their classroom knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process into community action, they continue to uphold Tishk International University’s mission of excellence in service and education.
