Creative Nutrition Workshop: Students Visit Kodo Kindergarten

On April 21, 2026, the second-grade Nutrition and Dietetics students from Tishk International University spent an engaging morning at Kodo Kindergarten. The goal of the visit was to show young children that eating well is enjoyable and to help them build healthy habits early on through interactive and practical activities.

A Warm Welcome from Kodo Kindergarten

Principal  Jwan shared her appreciation for the visit of the students. She noted that the students’ creative energy and active demonstrations really connected with the children, making the lessons about food both easy to understand and exciting for the kindergarteners.

Creative Educational Methods

To keep the children interested and make sure they walked away with a positive view of healthy food, the students used these interactive methods:

Method Description
Pancake Making Students helped the children prepare their own healthy pancakes, proving that nutritious food can be a favorite treat.
Fruit Shapes The kids used different fruits to create fun designs and characters, turning snack time into an imaginative art project.
Active Learning Instead of just listening, the children were direct participants in preparing and tasting fresh, wholesome ingredients.

Real Impact in the Community

The day was filled with laughter and learning. By providing engaging nutritional activities, the Nutrition and Dietetics students were able to:

  • Help children recognize that fresh, whole foods are the best choice for their bodies.

  • Make the idea of “healthy eating” memorable and fun rather than a chore.

  • Let the children experience the flavors of natural ingredients for themselves.

  • Support the school’s efforts to promote wellness and energy in the classroom.

Why Starting Early Matters

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics believes that community health begins in these early years. By visiting local kindergartens and hosting these culinary workshops, TIU students are helping to set the foundation for a healthier future for the children of Erbil.
