Advancing Health and Wellness

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Salahaddin University–Erbil successfully organized an International Workshop on “The Gut-Brain Connection” on October 7, 2025. Held in Hall 302 of the Education Building, the event focused on diet as a tool for resilience and wellness, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Expert Presentations

The workshop featured distinguished speakers who shared cutting-edge research and practical insights:

  • Prof. Naji Mustafa Abuirmeileh presented on Preventive and Therapeutic Nutrition, emphasizing how balanced diets promote both mental and physical wellness

  • Asst. Prof. Yaseen Mammand Omar Galali discussed Food Technology and Human Nutrition, highlighting the scientific basis of dietary components in enhancing gut-brain communication

Interdisciplinary Engagement

The event attracted faculty members, students, and guests from various academic and health disciplines, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue about nutrition’s role in brain function and mental resilience.
