Nutrition and Dietetics Students Lead Health Awareness Initiative at Jgar Xwen School
On February 20, 2025, As part of their ongoing commitment to community service and public health awareness, students from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department visited Jgar Xwen School to educate young learners about essential nutrition topics. This initiative aimed to empower students with knowledge about healthy eating habits, food sustainability, and the long-term impact of dietary choices.
Our first-grade students led the session, each focusing on a critical aspect of nutrition. Skar Salim addressed the growing issue of food waste, emphasizing how excessive waste affects the environment and food security. The session encouraged students to be more mindful of their consumption habits and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
Banav Diyar focused on the dangers of consuming unhealthy foods, particularly the risks associated with processed and fast food. By highlighting the connection between diet and long-term health, Banav aimed to instill better eating habits among young students.
To further reinforce the key messages of the presentations, the students distributed informative flyers outlining the risks of fast food and offering practical tips for making healthier food choices. The interactive nature of the event allowed school students to engage in discussions, ask questions, and reflect on their own eating habits.
To encourage and motivate the students, small gifts were rewarded to those who actively participated in discussions and activities. These tokens of appreciation aimed to inspire them to continue making healthier food choices and share their newfound knowledge with their families and peers.
