Community Health Mission Continues
On February 5, 2026, Nutrition and Dietetics students from Tishk International University continued their community health mission in the field of nutrition and dietetics with yet another productive visit — this time to Aram Village Elementary School.
The outreach focused on the critical relationship between wholesome nutrition and the academic energy required for students to excel in their studies. Students made several activities for the elementary school students to bridge the connection between food and academic performance, and to explain how food can be a cause of health issues if healthy eating habits are not chosen.
Interactive Educational Approach
During the seminar, Nutrition and Dietetics students used interactive analogies to explain nutrition concepts that might have been complex for elementary students. They successfully demonstrated complex nutritional concepts in a way that resonated with the young audience.
| Analogy | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Body and mind as high-performance engines | Natural, unprocessed ingredients act as “premium fuel” |
| Outcome | Peak cognitive function and physical endurance |
Practical Learning Activities
To reinforce these lessons and ensure students understood how to balance their foods and choose healthier snacks during school time, Nutrition and Dietetics students:
| Activity | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Provided a variety of healthy snacks | Practical opportunity to learn how to identify healthier food options |
| Played food and nutrition games | Reinforced learning through play |
| “Is This Healthy or Not?” game | Helped children distinguish between healthy and unhealthy choices |
School Administration Recognition
The initiative was highly successful thanks to the warm reception and support of the school’s administration. Principal Shilan Ali Younis thanked and commended the students for their professionalism and emphasized the importance of bringing expert nutritional knowledge directly to their school to foster a culture of wellness from an early age.
