The Physiotherapy Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Tishk International University, in collaboration with the Physiotherapy Department at Tishk International University–Sulaymaniyah, successfully conducted a National Workshop on the Role of Physiotherapy in Healthy Aging and Fall Prevention on 20 October 2025. The workshop was held at Tishk International University, Sulaymaniyah, and represented a significant academic and community-focused initiative aimed at promoting health awareness among the aging population in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The primary objective of the workshop was to provide evidence-based knowledge on healthy aging, functional independence, and fall prevention strategies for older adults, emphasizing the essential role of physiotherapy in maintaining mobility, balance, and overall quality of life. The event served as an important platform for raising public awareness, encouraging preventive healthcare practices, and strengthening collaboration between academic institutions in addressing age-related health challenges within the community.
The workshop was attended by academic staff from both physiotherapy departments, Tishk International University staff from Sulaymaniyah, physiotherapy alumni, physiotherapy students, and students from other disciplines. This broad participation reflected the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and the advancement of physiotherapy education and public health initiatives at the national level.
