On May 11, 2026, Tishk International University (TIU) hosted the highly impactful “Taste for Change: IDCB SDG Project Fundraising Day.” Organized by the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building (IDCB) students, this event combined a vibrant Food Fundraising Event with academic Student Project Presentations.

The Department of Physiotherapy is incredibly proud to highlight that our students were a vital, highly active part of this fundraising campaign, showcasing their deep commitment to social responsibility, teamwork, and global sustainability.

As displayed in the official event coverage, the activity took place between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, drawing widespread support from faculty, staff, and the student body across the university campus.

Aligning Healthcare Education with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The core mission of the IDCB course project is to support student-led community initiatives that directly align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By participating in the food fundraising bazaar and project presentations, the Physiotherapy students championed several critical global goals:

  • SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) & SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): Raising funds intended to improve community welfare, nutrition, and health support networks.

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education): Translating theoretical character-building principles into actionable, real-world altruism.

  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) & SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Cultivating strong, collaborative cross-departmental partnerships within the TIU family to serve vulnerable populations.

Academic and Professional Advantages of Civic Engagement

Participating in university-wide humanitarian events yields profound benefits for future healthcare professionals, including:

  • Cultivating Empathy and Compassion: For physiotherapy students, healthcare is inherently about serving others. Engaging in food fundraising for charitable causes deeply strengthens their professional ethics and patient-centered empathy.

  • Interpersonal and Leadership Skills: The active environment required students to manage logistics, communicate effectively with the public, and work cohesively within multidisciplinary teams—skills that are critical for future clinical operations.

  • Fostering a Vibrant Campus Culture: Beyond the boundaries of clinical labs and textbooks, events like this enrich university life, creating a beautiful balance between high-level academic performance and civic responsibility.

A Heartfelt Recognition

The Department of Physiotherapy extends its warmest appreciation to our dedicated students for their enthusiastic participation, hard work, and generous spirit, which significantly contributed to the resounding success of the event. We also express our gratitude to the IDCB coordinators and the TIU Administration for creating such an inspiring platform that enables students to become true agents of positive change in society.
