Tishk International University (TIU), Information Technology Department (IT), organized this community-university partnership project to support the environment and help students take part in real community service. The project was about cleaning the Bastora picnic area and removing waste such as plastic bottles, cans, food packages, and other rubbish. The project connected university learning with practical work outside the classroom.

Content:
The content of this project focuses on environmental cleaning. Bastora is a place visited by families and tourists, but many visitors leave waste behind. This waste damages the natural beauty of the area and can harm the environment. The students helped by cleaning the area and collecting the waste.

Objective:
The objective was to remove plastic waste and other rubbish from Bastora, protect the environment, and make the place cleaner and safer.

Aim:
The aim was to restore the natural beauty of Bastora and teach IT students the value of teamwork, responsibility, and community service.

The role and contribution of each partner:
Bastora Local Municipality / Erbil Environmental Directorate: Supported the project as the community partner and helped connect the project with the local area.
Dr. Hala Najwan: Served as project sponsor and department leader. She gave approval, supported the project, and funded transportation, tools, and cleaning materials.
Basam Raid Sahde: Managed the project in the field. He supervised the students, guided the cleaning work, and made sure students were safe.
Ms. Pary Ameer Arsalan Hadi: Supervised the academic side. She reviewed the proposal and connected the project with the students’ practical course.
IT Student Volunteer Team: Prepared the proposal, joined the fieldwork, collected waste, and helped complete the cleanup.
