Medical Analysis Students Organize a Handwashing Awareness Campaign to Promote Healthy Hygiene Practices

Project Name: Promoting Hand Hygiene and Germ Prevention

As part of the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building (IDCB) course, a group of students from the Medical Analysis Department organized a project entitled “Promoting Hand Hygiene and Germ Prevention” at the Cambridge International School- capital under the supervision of Ms. Amani Tahsin. The campaign was designed to educate young students about the importance of proper handwashing and personal hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases.

The main aim of the project was to raise awareness about hand hygiene and teach children the correct handwashing techniques through engaging and interactive activities. Through this initiative, students worked together to support children’s health and encourage the development of lifelong healthy habits.

This project was connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. The activity emphasized important values such as teamwork, communication, leadership, social responsibility, health promotion, community engagement, and sustainable development.

During the campaign, the students delivered an interactive presentation highlighting the importance of handwashing, when it should be practiced, and how proper hygiene helps prevent the spread of germs and infections. They also conducted a simple scientific experiment to demonstrate how germs spread and how effectively soap removes them. In addition, students organized interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions to encourage participation and understanding among the children.

To reinforce the campaign’s message, the team distributed approximately 330 educational gifts, including handwashing reminder cards, tissues, and wet wipes. These materials were designed to encourage children to maintain good hygiene practices in their daily lives.

The project provided an opportunity for students to apply their communication and interpersonal skills in a real-life setting while making a meaningful contribution to community health. It also strengthened the relationship between the university and the local community through active participation and educational outreach.

At the end of the activity, students gained valuable experience in health promotion and community service. They enhanced their understanding of social responsibility, teamwork, and sustainable development while helping young learners adopt healthy habits that can contribute to disease prevention and improved well-being.
