IDCB Students Launch Environmental Awareness Initiative to Promote Campus Sustainability

As part of the Interpersonal Dynamics and Character Building (IDCB) course, a group of students from the Medical Analysis Department organized a project entitled “Environmental Awareness” on 10.06.2026 at Tishk International University Campus under the supervision of Ms. Amani Tahsin.

The main aim of the project was to promote environmental sustainability and encourage students to adopt environmentally responsible behaviors. Through this activity, students worked together to support a cleaner and healthier campus environment while raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable practices to 33 cleaner staffs of the TIU campus as they presented the awareness and environmental protocols.

This project was connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action. The activity emphasized important values such as teamwork, communication, leadership, social responsibility, sustainability, respect for the environment, and community service.

During the project, students implemented several initiatives aimed at improving campus cleanliness and environmental awareness. They provided cleaning staff with protective equipment such as face masks and gloves, installed additional trash bins in high-traffic areas, and distributed trash bags to help manage waste more effectively. Informative signs and awareness stickers were also placed around the campus to encourage students to reduce littering, respect shared spaces, and develop environmentally friendly habits.

In addition, the students actively participated in cleaning activities throughout the campus. These efforts helped identify areas requiring additional waste management resources and promoted cooperation between students and university staff. The project fostered mutual respect and strengthened the connection between students and the campus community while highlighting the valuable contributions of the university cleaning staff.

At the end of the activity, students gained practical experience in environmental stewardship and community engagement. They enhanced their understanding of sustainability, teamwork, and social responsibility while recognizing the importance of individual actions in creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment for everyone.
